In business, organisations try to control, manipulate, or influence how they want their people to behave.  And yet no-one likes being controlled, manipulated, nor influenced how to behave.

In sport, we don’t do that.  We create a set of rules, or operating parameters, for the game and allow the players to operate within that.  Sometimes stretching and bending them, but that’s part of the game.

And it allows the players to naturally engage with the game and play optimally.

Why don’t businesses operate the same way to allow their people to operate at their best?
